The Ministry of Justice supports crime prevention projects

4. March 2005
The Ministry of Justice announces a competition for crime prevention projects. Support is awarded in two categories – for smaller projects, the maximum support sum is 100 000 kroons, for larger projects it is 300 000 kroons.

The competition is open to financing requests for projects that aim to direct youth away from crime and drugs. Financing will also be awarded to the best projects that deal with promoting the devices and activities inhibiting anti-property and public crime and disseminating the respective know-how. Financing is also available for the projects for reintegrating the persons, who have served their sentence or other criminal punishment, back into the society.

Support can be applied for by the NGOs, foundations, natural person entrepreneurs and local administration units that are registered in the Republic of Estonia. Support is not awarded to foundations dealing with crime prevention and to NGOs funded from the state budget. The project that seeks the support must start this year.

The Ministry of Justice awaits the project applications by April 1, 2005. The application must be drafted in Estonian in two copies and be presented in a sealed envelope with the keyword „Crime prevention project“ to the address Tõnismägi 5a, Tallinn 15191. The project evaluation committee will determine the supported projects within one month.

The support payment is decided by the committee formed by the Minister of Justice, decisions are subject mostly to the project's impact and feasibility. The committee will pass the decision by May 1.

More information about the competition conditions and the form for presenting the application are available at the Ministry of Justice website
