Ministry of Justice invites funding applications for crime prevention projects

Until 1 September
the Ministry of Justice is accepting applications for a crime
prevention project competition where the amount of support to be
allocated is EEK 550 000 and the largest possible support per project
being EEK 100 000.
Eligible project
applications are those related to the prevention of juvenile
delinquency and drug abuse among young people as well as projects
aimed at conducting social programmes among young people who have
been directed to Juvenile Committees. Also, financing may be granted
to projects focussing on promoting activities or equipment hindering
the commission of criminal offences against property or public
offences or on dissemination of the respective expertise. Projects
aimed at reintegration of persons who have served prison sentences or
other criminal punishment into society will also be financed.
Non-profit
organisations, foundations and sole proprietors registered in Estonia
can apply for support. Support will not be allocated to state-funded
foundations or non-profit organisations engaged in crime prevention.
Projects support is applied for must start this year and
self-financing or non-state co-financing of the project must amount
to no less than 30% of the project budget.
The application must
be in Estonian in two copies and submitted to Tõnismägi
5a, 15191 Tallinn in a sealed envelope bearing the label
Kuriteoennetuse projekt (Crime prevention project). The Project
Evaluation Committee will choose the beneficiaries within a month.
The support will be
allocated on the basis of the decision of a Committee formed by the
Minister of Justice, which will primarily take into account the
effectiveness and feasibility of the project. The Committee will make
its decision by 1 October.
