The Estonian Forensic Institute is a member of the following associations: European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) http://www.enfsi.eu/ The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) http://www.tiaft.org/ European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) http://www.irm.unizh.ch/ European Council of Legal Medicine (ECLM) http://www.eclm.org/html/?pageid=63 A number of cross-border partnership agreements have also been entered into in support of the institute’s operations. A new version of a (NBSFI) memorandum on cooperation regulating the partnership between the Baltic States was signed in April 2008 in which forensic agencies agreed to share information about their achievements, methods of investigation and new equipment and methods adopted. The memorandum also regulates reciprocal assistance in the carrying out of investigations, organisation of joint training sessions and seminars and resolution of issues related to ensuring quality and competence.
The directors of six forensic agencies signed the cooperation memorandum: Üllar Lanno, the director of the Estonian Forensic Institute; Gabrielė Juodkaitė-Granskienė, the director of the Lithuanian Centre of Forensic Science; Maira Čentoricka, the director of the National Bureau of Forensic Medicine of Latvia; Andris Lapinš, the chief of forensic investigations with the Latvian police; Genrikas Nedveckis, the director of the Criminal Investigation Centre of the Lithuanian police; and Alvydas Pauliukevičius, the director of the Institute of Forensic Science at Mykolas Romeris University. |
