25.10.2017. Having seen the presentations at Garage48’s idea hackathon held within the framework of the e-Justice related conference ’Futur-e-Justice’ which took place on October 19-20 in Tallinn Creative Hub (Kultuurikatel), the jury decided on EuroVisor as the winning team. EuroVisor is a convenient application for travellers which considers both the person’s country of origin and the country of destination and enables a handy comparison of legislation in different states.

8.09.2017. On 7th-8th September, Ministry of Justice organised a high-level international conference on implementation of the EU Data Protection Reform to give the EU Member States the opportunity to find the best solutions before making final decisions on their Data Protection Acts from May 2018.

23.08.2017. On the European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of All Totalitarian and Authoritarian regimes, delegations of Ministries of Justice of Europe and representatives of associations of victims of totalitarianism as well as representatives of institutions and organizations that study the crimes of totalitarian regimes convened in Tallinn. There were 19 countries represented on the conference or in the ministerial meeting. Invited were the EU countries and representatives from the Eastern Partnership.

23.08.2017. Estonia strongly condemns all crimes against humanity and the massive human rights violations committed by all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes and remembers the victims of all these regimes.

August 23 is observed as the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Communist and Nazi Regimes. The pan-European Remembrance Day was instituted in April 2009 by the European Parliament Resolution of 2 April 2009 on European conscience and totalitarianism.

7.07.2017. During the second day of the Justice and Home Affairs Informal Council meeting in Tallinn, ministers of Justice discussed the future of e-Justice, the sale of consumer goods, mutual recognition of freezing and confiscation orders and data retention.

26.06.2017. On 27 June, Directors of Better Regulation of the Member States and EU institutions will meet in Tallinn to discuss the policy, success stories and shortcomings in this area. The meeting paves the way for better regulation activities during the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Yesterday evening the Minister of Justice Urmas Reinsalu met in Brussels Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the EU Commission, to discuss the extension of the mandate of the European IT Agency eu-LISA which would enable to join with it also the e-CODEX justice information system and share e-evidence in the future. The cross-border mobility opportunities of companies were also discussed.

The Minister of Justice Urmas Reinsalu makes preparations for the Estonian presidency of the EU Council and meets in Brussels the key persons of the European Commission and the European Parliament in the field of justice. Today the Minister met Claude Moraes, member of the European Parliament.

25.10.2016 The project led by the Ministry of Justice has ended as a result of which the dynamic forms of the European Certificate of Succession and its application are shortly available through the e-Justice Portal. As a consequence of this project guidelines were prepared to improve the availability of information by using IT means in international succession matters.
