According to information received from telecommunications companies, faults have occurred in recent days in four undersea cables connecting Estonia and one cable connecting Hiiumaa to the mainland. The Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs confirms that Estonia's connections remain sufficiently backed up via other sea and land cables, ensuring the continuity of all services. Elisa has reported limitations in specific cable rental services and the company is in direct communication with the affected customers.

On Wednesday, June 18, Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta and Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Sweden Gunnar Strömmer signed a prison lease agreement between the two countries. The implementation of the agreement ensures the continued operation of Tartu Prison as strategic infrastructure along with jobs. The agreement will enter into force after its ratification by the parliaments of both countries.
