15. March 2024 Controversial Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive approved in the EU

The corporate sustainability due diligence directive (CSDDD) was approved at today's meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (COREPER). Estonia remained abstained, as the agreed solutions in the directive are not in line with Estonia's positions.

17. February 2024 US will share nearly 500,000 dollars in criminal proceeds with Estonia for the reconstruction of Ukraine

Today, at the Munich Security Conference, the Ministry of Justice of Estonia and US Department of Justice signed a cooperation agreement to direct nearly 500,000 dollars in confiscated criminal assets to the construction of Ukraine's electricity grid.

09. February 2024 Estonia does not support the corporate sustainability due diligence directive

Estonia considers the directive on corporate sustainability due diligence, which will be discussed today at the representatives committee COREPER, problematic. According to the Minister of Justice, Kalle Laanet, the main reason is that the rules resulting from the directive are unclear and it is not understandable what kind of obligations and the accompanying responsibility would fall to entrepreneurs.
