Remote notarial authentication options to be significantly expanded
3.04.2020. The options of the recently launched remote notarial authentication will be expanded significantly. From now on, it will be possible to authenticate, for example, real estate transactions via the video bridge without leaving home or office. Although the new solution was initially planned to be tested gradually, the Ministry of Justice decided to speed up the implementation of remote authentication to limit the spread of the coronavirus and ensure vital public services at the same time.
Entrepreneurs in difficulty due to the crisis to receive extra time
3.04.2020. At today’s sitting, the Government approved the draft legislation suspending the obligation for companies to file for bankruptcy and imposing a ban on creditors filing for bankruptcy during the emergency situation and for a further period of two months. This amendment provides entrepreneurs with an opportunity to adapt their economic activities to the current situation and use the state aid measures.
More digital solutions can be used in criminal proceedings
3.04.2020. Yesterday, The Government approved the draft legislation submitted by the Ministry of Justice, making it possible to use more digital solutions in criminal and misdemeanour proceedings and, therefore, reduce physical contact in the performance of procedural acts. This is part of the consolidated draft legislation prepared by the Government to combat COVID-19. 
Recommendations for organising the courts’s administration of justice during emergency situation
19.03.2020. The Council for Administration of Courts considers it important that Estonian courts ensure the proper functioning of the administration of justice during emergency situation, while avoiding the spread of the COVID-19 virus to judges, court officers, parties to a proceeding, and other persons engaged in the administration of justice. Written proceedings and using technical solutions is preferred.

26.02.2019 The Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Tõnis Saar and the Director General of the Finnish Patent and Registration Office Antti Riivari signed an agreement today in Helsinki, under which data shall hereinafter be exchanged between the business registers of the two countries.
