Estonian Parliament approves prison lease agreement between Estonia and Sweden
The Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) ratified the prison lease agreement between Estonia and Sweden, allowing up to 600 Swedish inmates to be accommodated in Tartu Prison. The agreement will help keep Tartu Prison operational, preserve the capability of the Estonian Prison and Probation Service, and create hundreds of jobs in Southern Estonia.
Connectivity ensured despite faults in five undersea cables
According to information received from telecommunications companies, faults have occurred in recent days in four undersea cables connecting Estonia and one cable connecting Hiiumaa to the mainland. The Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs confirms that Estonia's connections remain sufficiently backed up via other sea and land cables, ensuring the continuity of all services. Elisa has reported limitations in specific cable rental services and the company is in direct communication with the affected customers.

Estonia and Sweden Sign Prison Lease Agreement
On Wednesday, June 18, Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta and Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Sweden Gunnar Strömmer signed a prison lease agreement between the two countries. The implementation of the agreement ensures the continued operation of Tartu Prison as strategic infrastructure along with jobs. The agreement will enter into force after its ratification by the parliaments of both countries.

Estonia Wins International Arbitration Case Over Seaplane Harbour
An international arbitration tribunal has ruled that Estonia acted lawfully in reclaiming possession of the Seaplane Harbour and has dismissed the damages claim filed by ELA USA Ltd, owned by Aleksander Rotko. ELA initiated the lawsuit in 2018, demanding over 200 million euros in compensation. The company argued that it should have been allowed to continue its timber processing and cargo transport business at the port.
